Many times you find images with a white background
and you want to remove it.
Open your image in PSP.
Select the Magic wand
then the Tool Control button
For this one I set as above, but each image is different, so you
may have to play with it.
She is surrounded with white and a small spot by her back. First click
where the small red dot is. Then Hold the Shift
key down and click where the large red dot is.
Next chose Selections>Invert.
Now you see the marching ants around the image.
Next we want to see if all the white is removed, so we will Edit>Copy
Open a new image with these settings, I made the width & height
larger than the image
but you want the Background color set at Red so you can see what
you're doing.
Click OK, then Edit>Paste>and chose As New Layer
You can now see any white still left in the background.
I want to remove not only the little bit of white remaining but
the black part
under her also. So zoom in on the image, and click on the
eraser .
Then your tool control
Set the size and shape for the eraser, and then erase all the parts
you don't want.
After you have all the white and black erased you have a Layer
that you can
put in another image of your choice or make some stationary with
your own background.
So let's say I want to put her in another image like a forest.
Open the image you want to use and then, if your Layer Palete isn't
opened
click the
button.
| If put your mouse on the Layer1 and hold it down you can drag the image
onto the other image
of the forest, and then move it where you want it.
The image you work with will no doubt be different, but the principle
is the same.
As an added note I was using a .jpeg image for this. If you
have one that's a
.gif, you have to convert it first to a .jpeg.
